Setelah lulus sebagai seorang dokter spesialis mata dari Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Gadjah Mada pada tahun 2003, Dr. Upik praktek di Rumah Sakit Pusat Angkatan Darat Gatot Subroto selama satu tahun sebelum akhirnya bergabung dengan KMN EyeCare pada tahun 2005.
